The new PlayStation® Store will revolutionise the way you enjoy games, no matter how and when you play them.
Gone are the days when you need to hit the shops or stay in to wait for deliveries. Now if you want a new game for your PlayStation®3 or PS Vita, you can simply download it and play thanks to PlayStation® Store. The fun Lego Batman 2 is available across both PS3 and PS Vita.
The wonderful Ratchet & Clank Trilogy is recommended on PS3, while the majestic Gravity Rush proves a big hit on PS Vita.
GAME: Need for Speed Most Wanted (PS3)
Blaze a trail across Fairhaven City in one of the most exhilarating and stunning driving games of all-time. You must become ‘Most Wanted’ by the cops; if you’re good enough, you’ll see your real face plastered across billboards and posters across the sprawling and detailed metropolis – the ‘open’ world means you can drive wherever you like. Warning: don’t play too close to bedtime, as the adrenalin will be coursing through your veins until sunrise.
GAME: Assassin’s Creed III liberation (PS3, ps vita)
Set around the American Revolution, you take on Templar foes at sea in a Master & Commander-esque romp, and roam New York, Boston and beyond. Bigger and better than previous instalments, this is akin to starring in an intelligent period action film.
GAME: Sports Champions 2 (PS3)
This is perfect for family gaming over the festive season. Using the Move motion controller, you can enjoy golf, boxing, bowling, skiing, tennis and archery to make for a surprisingly decent workout. Golf, in particular, is a joy, especially as early nights and low temperatures make the real thing less possible.
FILM: Men in Black 3
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones make for an ace double act as Agents J and K in the first two Men In Black films. It’s Josh Brolin, however, who steals the show in the third, playing a young Agent K after Smith’s J travels back in time to stop Jermaine Clement’s Boris. Download it now from the PlayStation® Store.
FILM: Prometheus
Michael Fassbender cements his reputation as one of the most exciting actors working today with a memorably enigmatic performance as David, the android on board the spaceship Prometheus, sent to the far corner of the universe in order to discover who we are and where we came from. Given this is a piece to accompany the Alien films (but, as we’re repeatedly told, this is not a prequel to Alien... although it sort of is), Prometheus is not a jolly lark about unearthing facts.
FILM: 21 Jump Street
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill make for a surprisingly memorable double-act in this raucous comedy based on the Eighties cop show that catapulted Jonny Depp to stardom (the great man makes a ludicrous cameo). In what is one of the funniest films of 2012, Tatum and Hill play two floundering policemen – Jenko and Schmidt – who pose as high-school students to take down a synthetic drug ring. Like any great comedy, it’s endlessly quotable, while a college-set sequel is in the works.
