Donald Glover is making an animated 'Deadpool' series and it's definitely not for kids
As combinations go, Deadpool and Donald Glover is right up there
As combinations go, Deadpool and Donald Glover is up there, yeah? Yeah.
As we eagerly await the big-screen follow-up to The Merc with the Mouth’s R-rated and insanely successful first feature film, Marvel have confirmed an animated series that boasts the award-winning Atlanta creator (and future Simba) as showrunner, alongside younger brother Stephen Glover.
The as-yet untitled comedy series is targeted at adults, and will run for 10 episodes on FXX in 2018. Marvel and FX have already collaborated on the critically-acclaimed X-Men spinoff Legion, but an animated series dedicated to fiction’s swear-happy antihero, while an absolute no-brainer, is a bit of a surprise announcement, especially as it definitely won’t be a family-friendly affair.
“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!” said Executive Producer at Marvel, Jeph Loeb. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”
There’s no word yet on the voice talent being lined up, but they’ve got a job on their hands finding someone to match Ryan Reynolds. Keep an eye on this one.
