Nintendo is so devoted to hoovering up the millennial market with the Nintendo Switch that its most famous characters dab now.
The Japanese giant has today released a lengthy trailer for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a souped up re-release of the phenomenal Wii U racer and likely the game most early adopters will pick up when they’re finished with the new Zelda.
Deluxe bundles in all of the tracks and characters from Mario Kart 8’s DLC packs, and we get a good look at both the revamped Battle Mode – less racing, more smashing – and some of the brand new drivers.
Which is all great, but you’re really here because of that headline, aren’t you? Fast-forward to the 2:44 mark and see Donkey Kong, an ageless icon of the medium, celebrating whacking an opponent with a feather by doing what looks pretty much indistinguishable from a dab.
This isn’t the first time Donkey Kong has dabbed, though. Oh no. It’s been part of the ape’s repertoire since the Wii U game, which originally came out way back in 2014, and who’s to say DK hasn’t been dabbing his way through the jungle for a lot longer?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launches for Nintendo Switch on the 28th April.
