Don't expect Daniel Craig to return as Bond any time soon
The franchise looks like it’s about to get very shaken (and stirred)
Daniel Craig, the blue trunked, steely-eyed, screen stealing Bond for the Bourne generation, may finally be about to hang up his tux according to reports.
The man responsible for breathing life back into the classic British spy franchise is apparently looking towards pastures new, side-stepping into the consistently lucrative TV market.
As reported by The Sun, Craig has signed up to the cast of Purity, a US show that will run for multiple seasons, each featuring at least 20 episodes.
The new role serves as fuel for previous rumours of Craig feeling unsettled in the 007 camp after he said last year that he would rather ‘slash his wrists’ than play the MI6 agent again.
While an official announcement that Craig has quit the franchise is yet to be announced (after all, he was contracted to appear in five films) his new commitments with Purity will certainly delay production of any upcoming Bond movies, with The Independent reporting that ‘a decision on whether Craig will return as Bond has not be reached.’
In light of the news, bookies are already slashing odds on War & Peace actor James Norton settling in to replace Craig, although in the last six months everybody from Idris Elba to Tom Hardy has been linked to the infamous role.
Either way, the franchise looks like it’s about to get very shaken (and stirred).
