Come get some: Duke Nukem 3D is coming back for 20th anniversary edition
Violent and vulgar as ever, Duke has some new treats for his landmark birthday
Two decades after his irreverent humour shook up the world of first-person shooters, the Duke is set to bring his rule to the latest generation of consoles.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the seminal Duke Nukem 3D, Gearbox Software has announced the 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour - a revamping of the 1996 classic with a clutch of new material, including:
- A new fifth episode, consisting of eight levels designed by the game's original episode designers, Allen Blum III and Richard “Levelord” Gray
- A new INCINERATOR weapon and 'Firefly' enemy for the fifth episode
- New "Duke Talk" lines, recorded by Duke Nukem’s original voice actor, Jon St. John
- Original 1996 source code and "2.5D" engine re-mastered in True 3D for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Windows 10
Violent and vulgar, Duke Nukem 3D will arrive on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Windows 10 on 11 October. No, it won't be rocking the latest graphics, nor will it feel like the most polished of gaming experiences - but that's sort of the point. We can't wait to step back into our childhood (though we still don't think our mum would approve of it).
