Back in the 80s, Eddie Murphy was a dependable box office draw but time has been rather unkind to the Beverly Hills Cop star.
With the Shrek franchise now at an end, Murphy's career has ground to a halt. In fact, things are so bad that Forbes have just revealed he's their pick for the most overpaid actor of 2012.
They calculated earnings versus box office for the last three major films of Hollywood stars. So for every $1 that Murphy was paid for his last three films, he brought back a measly $2.30 in return. Chances are, you probably didn't see Tower Heist, A Thousand Words or Imagine That. Right?
Next down the list is Katherine Heigl, once seen as a surefire draw for the fairer sex. But after One For The Money, New Year's Eve and Life As We Know It all underperformed, she's moving her way back down the ladder.
Rounding out the top five are Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock and Jack Black, who was last seen in bird-watching comedy The Big Year.
Further down the list you can find Nicolas Cage, Adam Sandler, Denzel Washington, Ben Stiller and Sarah Jessica Parker, still struggling to carve a post-Sex and the City career.
Eddie Muprhy is pinning his comeback hopes on the Twins sequel, worryingly titled Triplets. Fingers crossed, yeah?
