After the third film disappointed (remember the one set in a theme park? Anyone), Eddie Murphy has decided to steer Axel Foley towards the small screen instead.
Vulture has reported that the Oscar-nominated comedian is currently developing a Beverly Hills Cop show with Shawn Ryan, creator of gritty cop series The Shield. It's being produced by Sony Pictures Television and the two are pitching the idea to networks.
Since Murphy is "too old for this sh*t", the show will not focus on Foley himself but rather, you guessed it, his son. Murphy will be taking on a supporting role however with Foley now the Chief of Police in Detroit. He'll be in the pilot and then have cameo appearances throughout the season.
Like the original films, it will be about two mismatched cops and have strong comedic elements.
We're expecting a hip-hop update of the iconic theme tune too.
What do you think? Does it sound worth a watch?
