I’m gonna go out on a limb here (specifically, my left leg) and bet that: you have heard of Eminem. I am also going to go out on another limb (right arm, this time) and bet that: you have not heard of Nathan Mathers.
Yep, Eminem has a brother that you didn’t know about. A secret sibling. A camoflauged connection. A recondite relative. You get the idea.
So why is Nathan suddenly in the spotlight? Well, he’s finally appeared on my radar because he’s starring in a new horror film, and they are the only films I watch. The movie, with the snappy title of Devil’s Night: Dawn of the Nain Rouge, surrounds the legend of the Nain Rouge (or Red Dwarf, folklore fans), a tiny little goblin monster who terrorises the streets of Detroit, Michigan (a city you will recognise from ‘Eminem songs’).
The film also stars Eminem’s mate Swifty McVay, from D12, and Napoleon Duraisamy, a veteran of over 150 Bollywood films. Here’s the trailer, if you’re in the mood for some moving images and a CGI tail:
Aside from his role in this, Nathan hasn’t spent too much time in the public eye, aside from a couple of appearances with his bro, and a brief attempt at the whole rap thing, under the name Nate Kane - he even released a track aptly called ‘Shadow of a Celebrity’.
Here’s another one of his tunes below (correct me if I’m wrong here, but he’s not terrible):
Anyway, that’s Nathan Mathers for you, and that’s Devil’s Night: Dawn of the Nain Rouge, which you will resolutely never watch, ever; I bet my right leg on it.
