Epic supercut of 100 years of robots in movies

For as long as there have been cinemas, filmmakers have shown us futures where androids are running them. In fact, they pretty much do everything.

Good or evil, from the curvy model from Fritz Lang’s 1927 classic Metropolis to the more uncouth Johnny Five in Short Circuit, we’ve had over a century of sci-fi films showing us what our robot-filled future should look like, and somehow we’re pretty sure ASIMO hoofing a football around isn’t quite what they had in mind.

But just because our own army of real-life cyborgs aren’t capable of enslaving mankind quite yet doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate all those fictional bots that have gone before. Created by the brilliant folk at You're Gonna Need A Bigger Blog comes this rousing supercut, kicking off with a clip from Robocop before cramming in pretty much every notable cinematic robot you've probably forgotten.

That includes evil Bill and Ted.
