We're pretty sure that not even The Smiths referenced a literary critic before. Plenty of authors, yes, but not quite as highbrow as titling a song after one who comments on their works.
So kudos to Cold War Kids, who unveil the brand new video for Harold Bloom, named after the famous 84-year-old American scholar, exclusively here on ShortList.com.
The video comes on the same day that its parent album, Hold My Home, receives a UK release via Downtown/SonyRED - you can stream the whole thing on Spotify via the player below.
Hold My Home is the band's fifth record and follows the releases of the singles All This Could Be Yours, First and Hot Coals, all tracks which showcase the band's abilities and the raw power of Nathan Willett's distinctive vocals. Harold Bloom showcases the sparser side of their sound, with Willett emoting over an electric piano and a gentle touch of tambourine; the video shadows the song perfectly, showing the singer alone in an auditorium with only his thoughts for company.
