BANG-wait-wait-SQUISH. You're a hero. A king amongst men. A gun-wielding ninja, for you have just executed the perfect sniper kill. Well done.
While many games offer players a chance to experience the thrill of sniping (partnered by that sickening wave of numptiness when you miss), one series above all others has dedicated itself to the thrill of this hit-and-miss elation - and it's back for a third outing.
Sniper Elite III sends players into the war-torn fields of Africa in World War II, guiding Lieutenant Karl Fairburne in his mission to eliminate key German forces and tactical strongholds. As the following launch trailer details, this game isn't all about sniping: you have to observe, plan and adapt - with multiple avenues available to help you send a bullet crashing into your opponent's skull (in satisfying slow-mo). Armed with a rifle, knife and binoculars, you're going to have to think on your feet if you're going to stop the Nazi's (again).
Available on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One from 27 June, Sniper Elite III looks set to become your new favourite long-range love.
