They love a bit of Shakespeare, do actors. Makes them look dead clever. The latest movie adaptation of Macbeth, which already has Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, has added to its cast with a raft of very impressive talents.
The film, which is directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) and has just started filming in Scotland, has pulled in Paddy Considine, Elizabeth Debicki (a standout as Jordan in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby), David Thewlis, Sean Harris and Jack Reynor (hyped after What Richard Did, and also starring in the next Transformers movie, which is a contrast). No official word yet on which characters each will play. Kurzel's film sounds like being quite a traditional version of the play, set in 11th century Scotland and showing the downfall of a war hero who is consumed by ambition.
Macbeth doesn't have a release date yet, but expect it either very late this year or in 2015.
