Finally: A Tent That Isn't Like an Oven in the Morning
Finally: A Tent That Isn't Like an Oven in the Morning
Festivals are brilliant. We all know that. But by the third day, you have less energy than a marathon runner on mile 25 - and why is that? The enforced burning of the candle at both ends: getting to bed late and getting up early.
The latter, though, is rarely out of choice, but more a consequence of the fact that, as soon as the sun starts shining at 6am, your tent very quickly resembles a furnace, initially making you sweat profusely, before starting to slowly cook you. Chuck in a hangover and it's a hellish situation.

But, fear ye not, intrepid campers: help is finally at hand.
The Siesta4 is a brand new heat- and light-blocking tent with built-in fans, which promises 'the best possible sleep when camping, even in blazing sunshine'.
As the name suggests, it's a four-man tent, and is "The world’s first tent to feature ducted side vents, into which up to two ultra-quiet, 8 inch, USB-powered fans can be installed. The fan draws cooling fresh air directly into the inner tent through a special fabric duct that connects the inner tent to the fly."
It's simple, but it looks like it'll be pretty effective, as a host of inside-tent vs outside world temperatures graphs demonstrate.
The tent is currently at the Kickstarter phase with almost $40,000 of its $100,000 goal currently raised at the time of writing. Prices start at $265 (£173) for a tent without a fan - though we're not sure why you'd want that - best to go in on the $395 (£257) double fan option.
