Marvel's next film isn't going to be that big. Quite the opposite in fact.
Starring Paul Rudd as the titular hero, Ant-Man is the next super-flick aiming to storm the summer's box offices. While not one of Marvel's best known franchises, the comic stuido is hoping it can repeat the success of last year's runaway hit Guardians of the Galaxy with a carefully balanced mix of grand action and tongue-in-cheek humour.
A con-man by trade, Scott Lang (Rudd) gains his unusual powers from a secretive suit that allows him to grow stronger the smaller he shrinks. A reluctant hero, Lang is forced to find his inner moral fibre when he's called to help his mentor Dr Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) from a new generation of "towering" threats.
Passed on from Edgar Wright to the capable comedy hands of Peyton Reed (Yes Man, Bring It On), one of the most derided titles in the Marvel line up is shaping up to be every bit as entertaining as the lycra-clad romps we're more familiar with.
Ant-Man will land in cinemas on 17 July
