The cast for season two of ‘Fleabag’ has been announced

If you haven’t watched season one of Fleabag, we have two questions for you. 1: what are you doing? And 2: what are you doing?

The comedy drama, which stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating and dominated plenty of awards listings when it came out in 2016.

Waller-Bridge won a BAFTA for her performance as the title character, leading to (ultimately unfounded) rumours that she might end up playing the doctor in Doctor Who, while co-star Olivia Colman also earned plaudits for her performance as an enjoyably hateful godmother.

Filming has now begun on season two, which means the cast has been announced - and there’s a new addition to get excited about.

Waller-Bridge, who also created the BBC Three show, is bringing back Olivia Colman, Sian Clifford, Bill Paterson, Brett Gelman, Jenny Rainsford and Hugh Skinner for the new run of episodes.

However, the principal cast will also be joined by Andrew Scott, perhaps best known for playing Moriarty in the BBC’s Sherlock.

“I can’t believe they let me do this AGAIN,” Waller-Bridge said.

“I’m so happy to be back with the incredible Fleabag team and I’m as surprised as anyone about where this series has taken us… thank God for Andrew Scott.”  

Since the first season of Fleabag was broadcast in the UK in August 2016, Waller-Bridge has seen her star rise.

She was most seen recently in Solo: A Star Wars Story as L3-37, while she also had a role in last year’s Goodbye Christopher Robin on the big screen.

Season two of Fleabag will arrive on BBC Three and Amazon Prime Video in 2019, though an official date is yet to be announced.
