Depending on your point of view, Football Manager has been either ruining or improving lives since 2005 (and many years previously, under the name Championship Manager). Now the football management simulator to end all football management simulators is to make its big screen debut.
An Alternative Reality: The Football Manager Documentary will get a cinematic release next month. Featuring input from the game’s creators, celebrity fans and famous players and managers, the film will chronicle the impact and legacy of the game on real people (i.e. sleep deprivation, ruined marriages, and the extreme euphoria of winning the Champions League with Cambridge United.)
Says Miles Jacobsen, Studio Director of Sports Interactive, the game’s developer: “The documentary isn’t our story – it’s the story of the people who escape to the alternative reality of being a football manager, and the effect this has had on their lives.”
A minimum of 26 Vue cinemas nationwide will screen the film for one night only, on 7th October. Sports Interactive are giving fans a chance to vote for their preferred screening location. Vote here before Friday 19th September to bring the film to a cinema near you.
