Ford has launched its vision for future transport technologies at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. And it involves some futuristic-looking prototype smartbikes.
Titled Handle On Mobility, these concept bikes are part of the wider Ford Mobility Project, an initiative that explores how traditional commuting - cars, bikes and public transport - can better integrate with modern technologies.
Ford's vision comes in the form of the MoDe:Pro and MoDe:Me e-bikes. These foldable two-wheelers can fit in the boot of your car, and carry luggage. They also come with a brand new MoDe:Link app. The app can tell you not only the best route, but also the best mode of transport to reach your destination.
Best of all, the electric bikes offer a "no sweat mode", activated when your heartrate breaches a certain limit, so you don't turn up to your meeting looking like you just swam through a sewer.
Forget driverless cars, if the MoDe bikes become a reality then commuters of the future will still feel the wind in their hair.
