Jason's back. And not content with a new TV series and thirteenth film outing, he's coming to haunt your games console as well.
Word comes from Sean Cunningham, director of the 1980 cult horror title, that a multiplayer, "predator versus pray" video game based around the themes of the original film is in the works. A small group of woefully weak teens will have to work together to beat a player controlling the hockey-masked horror - an asymmetrical experience not dissimilar to the upcoming Evolve multiplayer game.
HERE ARE 15 THINGS YOU (PROBABLY) DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT FRIDAY THE 13TH
"We felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form," said Cunningham. "We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."
Last seen on the NES in 1989, this will be the first time Jason has slashed his way through a video game in 25 years. As well as acting as a stand alone game, the latest brutal title will incorporate elements of the upcoming TV series, which is yet to receive a launch date. As soon as we hear more news on the return of the horror icon, we'll let you know. Listen for the screams.
