Game Of Thrones Actor Sets Another Strongman Record
If you name your child 'Thor', you're putting one heck of a weighty expectation on his life. Thankfully, in the case of Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson's parents, they were on the money.
Having already smashed one ancient strongman record earlier this year by lifting a 640kg tree on his way to becoming the World's Strongest Viking, the athlete and actor best known for his burly portrayal of Ser Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane (he's the one with a sword longer than most national borders) set another Herculean feat at the Arnold Strongman Classic event.
After some "ups and downs" during the contest, dropping points in the deadlift event, Thor Björnsson took to the stage for the single-arm kettle bell toss. By throwing a 25kg (56lbs) some 5.9 metres into the air, he set a new (admittedly strange) record.
And if that doesn't seem like a very practical skill to have, here he is winning the 500kg timber carry event.
We also hear he's pretty handy with his thumbs.
You'll be able to see Thor return as The Mountain once season five of Game of Thrones starts up on 13 April.
