'Game of Thrones' just unexpectedly gave us one of its funniest ever moments

Can we talk about how funny Game of Thrones has been this season?

The Hound has obviously led the way with some absolutely golden moments – his roasting of Thoros of Myr’s top knot a particular highlight – while there were a number of laugh out loud moments in this week’s episode.

Daenerys calling out Tyrion for his “A wise man once said” schtick was great, but the funniest scene in ‘The Queen’s Justice’ came at a moment we’d have least expected – the long-awaiting meeting of Jon and Daenerys.

They’re two of the show’s biggest and most important characters, we expected their first moments together to be weighty and impactful.

And to be fair, they were, but they were also hilarious – thanks to the Westeros’ most casual wingman, Ser Davos Seaworth.

Here’s now it went down:

Jon and Davos make their way into Dragonstone’s Throne Room, with Dany sitting imposingly in the giant throne at the other end of the hall. Then Missandei proudly does the introductions.

“You stand in the presence of Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, rightful heir to the Iron Throne, rightful Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the great grass sea, the unburnt, the breaker of chains.”

There’s a long pause, before Jon glances nervously back at Davos, and the Onion Knight realises it’s his turn to talk.

“This is Jon Snow...”

“...”

“...”

“He’s King in the North.”

Here it is as a .gif, because it’s brilliant and we all need to see it again.

This scene is why Davos is the best damn character on this show. I’ve said it before, I’m saying it now, and I will keep saying it until I die. Ser Davos Seaworth is a bloody legend and I want him to be my best friend.

Jon’s awkward face is also gold, and one of the most northern moments this show has ever had (Westerosi northern, not British northern).

I really hope Game of Thrones keeps dealing us up these little nuggets of humour, because as the show keeps getting darker and darker, we’re going to need them.
