We’ve got a real bad feeling 'Game of Thrones' Season 8 is going to kill one of your fave pets
Won't somebody please think of the animals?!
When everyone in your life betrays you and you feel like the whole world has let you down, there’s always someone that’ll be there for you: your pet.
Pets, and dogs specifically, are unwaveringly loyal, will give you unconditional love and are just generally the best.
And this is most definitely the case with the beloved Stark animals on Game of Thrones. Ever since the very first episode when the Stark clan found a dead female direwolf and decided to adopt her six orphaned pups, the Stark wolves have been central to events in Westeros.
Jon’s wolf Ghost, an albino with white fur and red eyes, fought off Thenn warriors during the Battle of Castle Black and it was Ghost who was first there for Jon when he was resurrected by Melisandre.
Basically, he’s a properly important character.
And even though we haven’t seen much of him for the past couple of seasons, it’s now been confirmed that Ghost will be making a prominent return for Season 8.
“Oh, you’ll see him again. He has a fair amount of screen time in Season 8,” VFX supervisor Joe Bauer told Huffington Post.
“Ghost does show up, and he does some … he’s very present and does some pretty cool things in Season 8.”
Bauer also explained how they bring the direwolves to life on screen.
“The direwolves are tough because you don’t want to get them wrong, so we end up always shooting real wolves and doing a scaling trick with them, but the real wolves only behave in certain ways,” Bauer said.
Now, we’re spit balling here, but we reckon the fact that Ghost definitely comes back and plays a big part probably – and crushingly, because I love Ghost – means that he’s going to end up dead.
If you only look at the numbers, things look very dicey. Bran’s direwolf Summer, Rickon’s direwolf Shaggydog, Robb’s direwolf Grey Wind and Sansa’s direwolf Lady are all dead so chances are that Ghost is going to end up croaking it too.
We shouldn’t give up all hope, though, because Arya’s direwolf Nymeria is still alive – and they even had an emotional reunion in the forest in Season 7.
But knowing Game of Thrones, Ghost is probably going to die. Probably along with every other character you’ve known and loved in the series. Yeah, he’s definitely dead, isn’t he. Everyone we love on that show ends up on a big, bloody, murderous heap eventually. That much we’re surely to expect.
