'Game of Thrones' star Aidan Gillen is joining 'Peaky Blinders'
No word on whether his character will be as much of a dickhead as Littlefinger
Filming for the fourth series of Peaky Blinders is underway in various regions of the country (residents of Liverpool have been on Tom Hardy-watch for weeks) and now the show has officially added Aidan Gillen to its star-studded cast.
The Irishman, best known for playing Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish in all six seasons of Game of Thrones, has joined what co-creator of the award-winning gangster drama Steven Knight calls a ‘dream team’.
There’s no word yet on what role Gillen will play in the Birmingham-based show, but according to Deadline he’s not the only addition. Charlie Murphy of Happy Valley and The Last Kingdom fame is also signed up, but like Gillen the details of her character are being kept under wraps.
Fan favourite Charlotte Riley will return as May Carleton, the horse trainer and former lover of Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby. She last appeared in season two. This all follows the announcement that Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Adrien Brody is yet another new addition to the Peaky Blinders family. Lots to be looking forward to, then.
The fourth season of Peaky Blinders is expected to air later in 2017.
