If every nation had its own wardrobe, hidden somewhere toward the back in a moth-eaten carry bag would be that once-significant, now-clichéd cultural piece that's only dug out when the calendar dictates. England's would contain the attire of the Morris Dancer, Scotland's might be a particularly bad tartan, while Germany's would be the infamous lederhosen.

And yet, it would appear the Germans aren't as bashful as we might have thought. One second division football club has turned to this national icon in a new lederhosen-styled strip. In an effort to celebrate the forthcoming Oktoberfest, 1860 Munich has created this excellent special edition away kit.

Mercifully for the players (and spectators), the shorts aren't fabricated out of the breaches' traditional thigh-hugging leather, but the usual synthetic cloth.

Set to make their début on the opening weekend of Oktoberfest on 20 September, here's hoping the kit reignites 1860's season - they've only won one of their opening five matches.
