Get ready for the worst bad loser in the history of Come Dine With Me

It’s been a whole year since Come Dine With Me gave us the gift of its angriest contestant ever. But who are we to let the passing of time fade our memories; we will never forget. So let’s all take a moment to revisit the greatest adult tantrum ever witnessed on terrestrial TV.

Let's just admit it - everyone loves a bit of Come Dine With Me, especially on a lazy Sunday or a hangover day, watching overcompetitive hosts try and outdo each other while Dave Lamb provides some suitably acerbic commentary.

But this has surely got to the be the greatest moment in its entire 11 year history.

In the closing moments of the final meal of the four evenings, contestant Peter Marsh, hosting that night, brings over the results tray, clearly expecting to win after cooking a five course meal with a main of slow-roasted beef - he described it as "better than anything else I've seen this week".

But, lo and behold, it turns out he had finished last.

And the fireworks begun, as he gave an icy deathstare before ripping winner Jane to shreds telling her to, "enjoy the money, I hope it make you very happy...what a sad little life Jane", telling her she has "all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on", before finally instructing her to "take your money and get off my property".

Awkward doesn't even cover it. Even Dave Lamb seemed embarrassed at the David Brent-style rant.

Viewers were shocked, with tweets coming in explaining that they even had to open the champagne outside the house.

Contestant Adam Mastroianni said: “I didn’t want to make eye contact because I thought he’d open up on me next. Half of me wishes I would have stood up to him because Jane was really lovely, and half of me is glad that the clip doesn’t include him berating me.”

You can watch the full episode on the Channel 4 website until 4 February - head here.
