If there's something strange in your neighbourhood, what you gunna play? Well sure, Risk has its merits, but it's not quite what we were building up to.
Having gamified the worlds of The Walking Dead, The Big Bang Theory and most of Middle-earth, board game specialist Cryptozoic Entertainment has launched a Kickstarter project for Ghostbusters: The Board Game.
For one to four players, the customisable game has an episodic slant: players control one of the four original ghostbusters, with the task of restoring balance between spirit world and our own. You're required to work with rather than against other players, utilising your character's skills to help catch as many spirits as possible.
As the Kickstarter page explains, "during each turn, players move, shoot proton streams, deposit trapped ghosts, use unique character abilities, and drive the Ecto-1 to complete objectives".
Using dice and playing across a tiled board, players can take on one of three campaigns, each with four scenarios - so there's plenty of variety on offer, with games lasting between half an hour or "a whole night". If ghosts are successfully caught, players move towards a showdown with one of the final boss ghosts - but should they fail, they can release even more ghosts into the game.
Cryptozoic has set a number of pledge options, with various extra characters and enemies available. The base level "Paranormal Pledge" will get you the full game for around £55. Well on its way to completing its funding goal, the game is due to arrive in October this year.
