Oh Greggs, oh sweet sweet Greggs, the best thing from Newcastle since Ant and Dec: provider of delicious baked goods, succulent bread-based products and decadent desserts.
And just when we thought we couldn’t love them any more, we now don’t even need to leave the comfort of our offices to sample their beautiful wares.
Following a successful trial in Newcastle, the chain is now roll-ing it out in the capital, with two branches in the City of London selected to kick things off. So if you work within 0.4 miles of the Bow Bells House in Cheapside or Eastside branches, you’re in luck.
However, unlike their sausage rolls, it’s not perfect – you have to spend at least £20, and you have to order before 5pm the previous day for delivery between 10am and midday. They’re clearly going for the office meetings market – so if you’ve been dreading that face-to-face with a difficult client, at least you can rest easy in the knowledge that you can stuff your face with a pasty while you’re doing it.
Raymond Reynolds, retail director at Greggs, said: "Convenience is key in the food-on-the-go market, and we’re extremely excited to offer delivery of a selection of our great tasting freshly prepared food directly to our customers, by trialling a free delivery service in two of our London shops.”
More trials are expected as the year progresses: see, 2017 is better than last year already.
