Hide the oil. The robots are at it again.
Based on Michael Crichton’s cult 1973 classic sci-fi film of the same name - though arguably best known for being spoofed as The Simpsons's Itchy and Scratchyland episode - HBO’s Westworld could be your next big TV fix.
In a terrifying theme park of the future, where robots deployed as townsfolk, prostitutes and villains, James Marsden stars as a tourist who must fight for survival when the machines turn on their masters.
Giving us a glimpse at the horrors which await, here’s the first full length trailer. As things go south - or should that be west? - we see Ed Harris’s black-clad baddie proving a real pain in the neck for Marsden, and lead computer scientist (Anthony Hopkins) having a Blade Runner-like run in with one of his more curious creations.
Created by Jonathan Nolan (brother of Christopher) and produced by J J Abrams (but then what doesn't he produce?), no expense seems to have been spared in the series, which is expected to land in October.
Saddle up.
Westworld will air in the UK on Sky Atlantic in October
