Henry Cavill has been confirmed to star in the new 'Witcher' Netflix series
It looks like another unmissable Netflix treat
The Witcher is one of the hardest gaming franchises to complete, so thankfully they’re making it into a Netflix series, thereby making it easy to complete. In about two days, most likely.
This August, Henry Cavill spoke to IGN about his interest in starring in an adaptation of the game:
“Absolutely. Yeah, that would be an amazing role.
“The books are amazing. The books are really, really good… The books I started reading, and they are well worth a read.”
“The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through. Love that game. Really good game.”
And in response, ‘internet photoshop man’ BossLogic knocked up an image of what he might look like on the show:
And then it all snowballed from there - in fact, it snowballed so much that it has resulted in a snowman, one of the exact same size and shape as Henry Cavill, who has now this week officially signed on to star in The Witcher, in the pivotal role of Geralt of Rivia.
The show (based on the game, which is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books) will come from showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich (The West Wing, Daredevil, and The Defenders) and numerous writers that have worked on Jessica Jones and The Tick. There have been no other cast announcements as of yet, though showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich gave an insight into her casting process back in July. There’s a bit more info on all the developments so far here.
Still, at least Netflix are giving ‘internet Photoshop man’ BossLogic the recognition he so clearly deserves:
The Witcher will debut on Netflix in either 2019 or 2020, so ages away - and for more. You might even have completed one of the games by then!
