Here's how to make the Flaming Moe and other cocktails from 'The Simpsons'
Ahh, sweet liquor eases the pain
If, for some reason, you’ve always wanted to try a Flaming Moe, you’re in luck. YouTuber Nick – also known as Cocktail Chemistry – has put together a video so you can enjoy perfectly cromulent cocktails straight from Springfield.
First, there’s the Flaming Homer – 120ml of tequila, 120ml of creme de menthe, 120ml of peppermint schnapps and 60ml of cough syrup, blended and set on fire. But if a glass full of cough medicine doesn’t sound particularly appealing, Nick also included the recipe for an “improved” version: 22ml of creme de violette, 22ml of Cointreau, 22ml of dry gin and 22ml of lime juice.
Then there’s the Skittlebräu – originally a can of beer and a can of skittles. Nick’s updated version includes beer, lemon juice and ginger beer, and is very slightly more appealing than some warm, Skittle-y beer.
And there’s one final recipe that Nick doesn’t recommend: a single plum floating in perfume in a man’s hat, which is probably one to avoid.
If Nick’s ideas are appealing to you and you want to subscribe to his newsletter, all the recipes can be found on his website, where he also shares tips on how to create slightly more conventional cocktails.
