"Why do they keep remaking classic games?" is an odd complaint of the next-generation console era.
Sure, it would be nice to have some new franchises to soak up our evenings (we're struggling to get our space farming simulator picked up by a developer), but when a proven title gets a graphic overhaul as impressive as that which God of War 3 has received, the protests seem a touch hollow. It's like getting annoyed about a new hair cut.
To celebrate the series' 10th anniversary, 2010's God of War 3 - one of the most critically acclaimed titles of the PlayStation 3 - has been remastered for Sony's latest sleek black box. As the new trailer shows, there are more gods for Kratos to slay with his array of vast swords, more battles to master and even more pixels to watch (1080p at 60 frames per second, for those bothered by such numbers).
Kratos will be bringing his remastered brand of carnage to the PlayStation 4 on 14 July. You'll just have to dig out your old copy until then.
Crank up the trailer to 1080p for an impression of what to expect.
