Here's how to filter out trolls with Twitter's new features

Twitter is finally getting serious about trolls.

The social media site has rolled out a new set of features to all users in an effort to curb the abuse that some odd corners of the net delight in pedalling.

There's now a 'Quality Filter'

Want to cut out activity from bot accounts, new users who are just on the web to cause trouble and duplicate tweets? You're going to want to switch on the new Quality Filter:

"When turned on, the filter can improve the quality of Tweets you see by using a variety of signals, such as account origin and behaviour," explains Twitter's blog. The feature has been in development for some time, and was previously only available to those accounts with the blue tick verification. "We’ve designed the feature to learn and improve over time so what we’re rolling out is just a start, and we’ll keep you posted on updates in the future."

Only see notifications from people who follow you

Sure, you could go through individual accounts you don't want to get notifications from, blocking those who've been giving you some hassle. But that can be an arduous task.

A new notification setting allows you to limit notifications to only people you follow.

It's a small step in helping address the troll issue, but at least it's a start. Now, any chance of a Trump filter?
