While we're not experts, there are two drinking rules we thought were set in stone. Firstly, Scotch whisky should only be drunk with water or ice. Secondly, only James Bond can pull off the Martini glass. But Quo Vadis in London has shattered both these myths by creating the ultimate Scotch whisky cocktail, the Jockey Club. And it tastes pretty good too. To make it, simply follow the recipe below.
Method
You'll need a Martini glass for this cocktail. For the most impressive results, put the glass in the freezer about 10 minutes before you begin preparation.
To start put a handful of ice into a large mixing glass - a pint glass is ideal for this. Then add all the ingredients into the mixing glass and stir for about 30 seconds - this is to get enough dilution and to make the cocktail cold. Remove the martini glass from the freezer, and strain in the cocktail to remove the ice. Finally, garnish with an orange zest.
Ingredients
40 ml vatted Scotch whisky such as Monkey Shoulder.
20 ml sweet vermouth.
5 ml Maraschino liquor.
3 dashes of chocolate bitters.
Solid dry ice from freezer is the best.
