After I Am Legend grossed a whopping $585 million (£363 million) at the global box office, Warners were keen to make a sequel or a prequel. But it's been a difficult process and after a fair few aborted attempts, a solution has been found.
Why not just reboot the whole damn thing? Despite it being only seven years since the film, the story is being given a rejig.
While working in the Apple store, Gary Graham sold a script called A Garden at the End of the World to Warners. The script was a sci-fi western and had been receiving a great amount of buzz. Seeing an opportunity, the studio spoke to the I Am Legend producers and spotted enough similarities between the two projects.
Graham was then given the task of rewriting the screenplay to fit the existing mythology.
Will Smith is unlikely to return as he's reportedly not a fan of sequels and we imagine that the reboot will be focusing on different characters, as well as a different location and possibly timeframe.
I Was Legend perhaps?
