Ah Fallout 3. Famed for its sprawling world and complex story lines, players can happily lose weeks of sunlight and social contact to exploring this genre-defining RPG... with the notable exception of Tom Roe, who's gone and finished it in under 24 minutes.

In a bizarre spate of record swapping, speedrunner BubblesDelFuego set a new record for an 'any percent' completion (the bare minimum) of Fallout 3 with an astonishing time of 23 minutes and 55 seconds on 29 June. Flick forward to 1 July and Tom Roe has shortened this further still - to 23 minutes and 13 seconds.

The speedruns have been completed using a glitch that takes advantage of quick save and quick load clipping. By saving and loading the game while pushing up against various walls, the players are able to negotiate vast areas and enter zones of the game that usually take hours to reach.

While this form of glitch speed running won't appeal to all gamers, the discovery of the bug and the degree to which it's been manipulated is still immensely impressive. You can watch Roe's record-setting video below:
