Spying. Crashing. Bothering the authorities. It would appear these aren't the only uses for the humble drone - they're also pretty hand at taking stunning aerial photos.
This week saw the winners of the first International Drone Photography Awards announced, and they're all much better than anything we've taken out of a plane window. Organised by (the admittedly niche) social network Dronestagram in sponsored_longform with National Geographic, over 2,000 entries were submitted to the contest - with prizes ranging from GoPros to new drones up for grabs.
Six winners were selected, three by a panel of judges from Dronestagram & National Geographic and three based on those images most 'liked' in the contest section. Check out the winners below - and please, fly your drones responsibly.
