James Corden Has A Brilliant Debut On The Late Late Show
On most people’s first day of work they just keep their head down and try not to accidentally insult the boss' mum. But most people aren't James Corden.
Last night saw Corden start his much-discussed stint on The Late Late Show and, you know what, people actually seemed to like it. Despite worries that he was too English, too inexperienced and simply not the right sort, the irrepressible High Wycombe boy seems to be winning them over already.
Corden started off with a suitably cheesy (know your audience) opening monologue in which he said the word "honour" a lot and even teared up at the end when he thanked his parents. He’ll fit right in.
One of the biggest movie stars of all time isn't a bad guest to have on your first day: Tom Hanks is a chat show host's dream guest because he’s funny, articulate and not Meg Ryan. He was on top form last night, discussing his accidental role of becoming the face of "manspreading". He wasn't happy about it.
To not have accidentally punched a guest in the face would have made the night a success, but not only did Corden manage to not physically assault anyone, he also managed to get a scoop about Mila Kunis and Aston Kutcher's marriage that covered the morning's celeb headlines.
If we were prone to jealousy, we'd hate him.
