James Corden sings his heart out in Sainsbury's Christmas advert
The Gavin & Stacey star belts out the shop's new animated advert
There’s no avoiding it now – Christmas is well and truly upon us.
The John Lewis advert is already being parodied, that new M&S offering is already having think pieces written about it, and now Sainsbury’s has released its own seasonal offering – an animated festivity featuring the vocal vocal skills of one James Corden (we’re guessing Jamie Oliver couldn’t pull off the high notes?) tackling a song penned by Flight of the Conchords’ Bret McKenzie.
The ad sees Dave (sung by Corden) struggling to keep up with the “Christmas whirlwind” – genuinely losing the plot at the thought of trying to buy presents for the family and keep things ticking over at the toy factory he works at. You know, standard Christmas ad stuff.
Things take a weird turn when Dave decides to build a second version of himself. We won’t ruin things for you...
If you bloody love a good animation, you can see how Sainsbury’s put theirs together right over here.
