Anyone who's seen 1408 will know that John Cusack makes for a successful Stephen King protagonist. His performance as a tortured writer stuck in a haunted hotel room helped to make the film one of the better King adaptations.
So we're rather enthused by this latest piece of news.
The baby-faced actor will be headlining the big screen adaptation of Cell, King's 2006 chiller about a graphic novel artist struggling to find his family while a bizarre mobile phone broadcast turns people into vicious killers.
Reassuringly, King wrote the screenplay along with Adam Alleca, best known for the remake of The Last House On The Left. No director has been attached yet but it's being produced by Richard Saperstein, who worked on both 1408 and The Mist.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Stephen and John again,” said Saperstein. “Cell is an intelligent psychological thriller that delivers on both a visceral and emotional level.”
It joins other forthcoming King movies including Carrie, Gramma and A Good Marriage.
What do you think? Good casting?
