The first details of the John Lewis Christmas advert have leaked
Christmas is nearly finally here...
I can’t help feeling a frisson of festive excitement when the new John Lewis Christmas advert rolls into town every year - for many, it signals the start of Christmas proper.
And the hallowed time is nearly upon us, with experts (well, OK Magazine) predicting that it’s going to hit our telly boxes either next Thursday (which they did last year), or next Friday (all the previous years).
It’s also, apparently, going to feature a brand new ‘monster’, rather than being based on a real animal. Dogs and penguins are out.
A source told OK:
“This year the John Lewis advert will revolve around a big cuddly monster. If you can imagine a cross between the Gruffalo and a huge cute teddy bear, that’s the angle they’ve gone for. The creative team behind the John Lewis advert have pulled out all the stops this year. It’s going to be like nothing they’ve ever done before and will be a million miles away from Buster the Boxer.”
Sounds good, I’m sure it will make us cry and warm our hearts with festive cheer like every other year..
It’s also emerged that the song they’re going to use is a new version of ‘Last Christmas’, to pay tribute to George Michael, who died on Christmas Day last year.
There’s no word yet on who’s going to be on the vocals, but let’s hope they can do the legend that is George justice.
In the meantime, here’s the Monty the Penguin one, because it’s one of our favourites:
