Despite once coining the phrase, Jon Faverau isn’t feeling so money right now.
Granted, he’s amassed enough box office dollars to put Tony Stark to shame thanks to blockbusters like Iron Man, but now the guy who gave us Swingers is now rediscovering those low-fi indie roots with a new feel-good comedy.
Chef, written, directed and starring Faverau, sees him playing a renowned LA chef who's stuck in a rut. Divorced and devoid of fresh ideas, he abruptly leaves his residency at an elite restaurant, only to rekindle his love for both food and family thanks to a Cuban-themed food truck, driving it from New Orleans back to LA, estranged young son in-tow.
Boasting a mighty soundtrack, outright food porn and that lack of schmaltz often attached to US indie features, there’s a realistic warmth to Chef - and when we caught up with Faverau to, erm, grill him on it, it's clear he's enjoying the ride.

Re-teaming with Vince Vaughn? Now that would be money.
