Jon Stewart just tore Donald Trump supporters a new one
"This country isn’t yours. It never was. There is no real America. You don’t own it. You don’t own patriotism."
It must have felt like old times for Jon Stewart last night.
Hours after Donald Trump accepted the Republican Presidential nomination, the former host of The Daily Show briefly slipped into the presenting chair on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to deliver a few home truths to political supporters of the bewigged one - and he didn't hold back.
“This country isn’t yours. It never was. There is no real America. You don’t own it. You don’t own patriotism. You don’t own Christianity," he said.
“You sure as hell don’t own respect for the bravery of sacrifice of military, police and firefighters,” he added, referencing the conservatives who actively fought against the bill to extend health coverage for the 9/11 first responders.
His emotion palpable, Stewart also took aim at the conservative US media for its continued double standards with regards to the criticisms levelled at Barack Obama compared to Trump. Watch the rant for yourself below.
J-Stew for president, anyone?
