After the Sony Pictures hacking debacle, created by the release of The Interview, it seems like North Korea's finest cyberhackers aren't just (allegedly) going after the big guns.
Video game Glorious Leader! - a platformer where you play as dictator Kim Jong-un - has cancelled its Kickstarter campaign after apparently becoming the "victims of a hack inspired by the attack on Sony".
Developer Moneyhorse Games had put together the basis of the game, before taking to Kickstarter to raise funds to finish it, but have been forced to pull the plug after reaching $17,000 of their $55,000 goal, following a hacking.
According to a statement, "The hackers destroyed data pertaining to Glorious Leader! and other projects we had in development and locked us out of our own computers and website. The timing couldn't have been worse as it hampered our ability to attend to the Kickstarter project. We realise that we also made mistakes in our pledge levels and rewards. It is now evident that our funding goals will not be met, so we are cancelling our Kickstarter campaign."
They had previously stated that, rather than being an 'official' attack, "We are sure that this is a hoax perpetrated by amateurs. We have NO reason to believe that this was done by the GOP or anyone affiliated with North Korea. It appears to be an opportunistic copycat, as we have been the target of hacking attempts in the past."
