LEGO accidentally reveal a key Star Wars: Rogue One character
The following article contains some potential spoilers to the upcoming plot of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. If you wish for your experience of the film to remain unblemished, stop reading. We don't really know why you're here.
LEGO has dropped a brick.
At last weekend's Nuremberg Toy Fair, the beloved toy maker took to the stage to show off its range of new Star Wars products - a preview of all the models set to tie into the ever-expanding Disney universe.
However, one slide included in the presentation has let slip more than it should have...
Pictured in its resplendent oddness above the title of Rogue 1 would appear to be Boba Fett's ship, Slave 1 - which would point toward the notorious bounty hunter appearing in Gareth Edwards's spin-off film.
In order to ensure toy supplies synchronise with film releases, toy manufacturers are often provided with an early insight into a film's plot, visuals and characters. LEGO's Force Awakens toys were the subject of immense scrutiny when they were revealed months ahead of JJ Abrams' film - though none of LEGO's previews made a blunder of this scale.
Ever since Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was announced - telling of the events of a group of Rebel soldiers stealing the Death Star plans that lead to Episode IV: A New Hope - rumours have been rumbling that old saga characters might return. Rumours have already suggested that Darth Vader would return, after his iconic costume was said to have been recreated.
A possible avenue for the film's plot would see a band of Rebels, lead by Felicity Jones (possibly playing a young Princess Leia?), flee from Imperial-controlled space with the plans for the Death Star. Darth Vader could call upon the skills of bounty hunters, including Boba Fett, to pursue the Rebels.
Sure - it's all speculation for now; someone else could own a ship of a similar design to Fett's Slave 1?
With a release date of 16 December, we'll have to wait a few more months before the first trailer arrives to answer a few questions.
