Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a hoverboard... out of a ZBoard electric skateboard?
Well no actually. But ZBoard, creators of immensely fun electric skateboards, have brought this dream a step closer to reality. In a celebration of "Back to the Future Day" (which you already knew was 21 October 2015), they've married their product with the designs of Marty McFly's intensely cool hoverboard for a charitable cause.
The ZBoard Hoverboard is as close as you're going to get to gravity defying transport this side of a robotic uprising: lean forward on the deck and its light weight electric motor can power you to a top speed of 18mph. Lean back and you'll slow to more pedestrian speeds.
At $1,500 (£930), you might be saving long into the future to get your feet on one, but you can chip in by contributing to the group's Indiegogo project page. All proceeds from this limited edition board will go to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation, a charity dedicated to funding research into Parkinson's disease.
