Even the world’s great designers had to start somewhere. Of course, there are worse places than where Alexander (Lee) McQueen first worked: top Savile Row tailor H Huntsman.
In his time there, the young McQueen made suits for the likes of Prince Charles, later revealing that he stitched anti-royalist statements into the jackets, albeit hidden from sight by the linings.
Now, the late designer’s fashion house and his former employers have united to collaborate on a capsule collection titled ‘Huntsman For Alexander McQueen Savile Row’ this autumn. It comprises an overcoat, a dinner suit, and double-breasted and single-breasted jackets with matching trousers and waistcoat.
Customers will be measured by one of Huntsman’s cutters at the Alexander McQueen store, a bespoke service requiring up to four fitting sessions over 12 weeks, and costing £5,300 for a two-piece suit. Just make sure you check the lining…
