Unless we really haven't been paying attention, we're not yet aware of a second coming from Jesus. The Stone Roses getting back together is as close as we've seen to a miracle in recent times.

But, given Hollywood's constant love of sequels to get the cash rolling in, we probably shouldn't be surprised that Mel Gibson is working on a sequel to his 2004 Biblical epic The Passion of the Christ.

He is teaming up with Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace, who said "I always wanted to tell this story. The Passion is the beginning and there's a lot more story to tell."

The original movie was controversial, with criticism of its extreme violence and allegations that it was antisemitic, while the major studios all passed on it because of Mel Gibson's insistence that the dialogue be conducted in Aramaic, Latin and Hebrew - it became the highest grossing independent film of all time, making a huge $612m.
