His double gold at the World Championships was stunning. But, like the rest of us, he just wants to talk Breaking Bad
Did the World Championship double feel bigger than the Olympics?
It did, yeah, because everybody knows what you’re capable of. All eyes were on me. It wasn’t easy.
How can you top it?
The London marathon is my target.
What do you do when you’re not shattering records?
Oh God, Breaking Bad has been ridiculous. Me and the wife have been addicted to it. That’s the one show I really like. It almost feels real. You can see why [Walter] did it, and it just doesn’t feel in any way fake. You feel sorry for the guy. And you want to just keep watching and watching.
And your favourite album?
I really enjoyed Dizzee Rascal’s new one, The Fifth. I listen to certain tracks when I’m warming up and when I’m tired, so each tune has a meaning and has to have
a good beat.
Presumably you won’t be smashing tins of Quality Street over Christmas?
No, I’ll just have a normal dinner, not do much, chill with the family. No pudding, just sweets – I’m a candy man.
