Video games are getting bigger. Much bigger. Worlds need to be open, online needs to be omnipresent and the weapon lists comparable to the average novel. Far Cry 4 is so vast it even delves into spiritual realms.
Set in the mountainous surrounds of Nepal, Far Cry 4 follows the story of Ajay Ghale, a Nepalese man who returns to Kyrat, a wild and untamed region of his home country to scatter his mother's ashes. Once there, he becomes caught up in a civil war as the people struggle under the regime of self-appointed king Pagan Min.
As the latest trailer reveals, the locations are vast - packed with foliage and wildlife. You can ride elephants into battle, glide around on your wing suit or tear into foe with a good old-fashioned frontal assault - and that's before you set foot in the game's Shangri La spiritual worlds.
You can lose yourself to this latest instalment of the Far Cry story when it arrives on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on 18 November.
