Unboxing is something of a niche hit in the gaming world. Some are mad for it, loving to watch YouTube 'unboxing' reviews that invariably involve a fat-fingered gamer failing to peel the cellophane off the latest special edition tin of Call of Duty, squealing in delighted frustration.
Others (us), find the ritual a bizarre one, akin to being a voyeur in someone else's house on Christmas morning.
Microsoft have decided to play to the unboxing crowd, posting a video revealing what will be inside the 'Day One' edition of their new console. Microsoft's Major Nelson (Lawrence "Larry" Hryb to his IRL pals) gets positively giddy over the 'liquid black' (black) console, a 4K rated HDMI cable (a cable) and a sticker (!). It's an unnervingly infectious celebration of consumerism.
Significantly, the video does reveal that both the 'Day One' and standard editions of the console will ship with a headset - something the company had previously stated wasn't going to happen.
Microsoft are still yet to reveal exactly when the Xbox One will go on sale, stating the launch date as 'November'. Whenever that is.
