“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, goes the old saying. There are more to make you feel good about yourself, too. “Beauty is only skin deep”; “It’s what’s on the inside that counts”. You’re perfect. You are beautiful as you are. Probably.
Not according to science though, mate – according to science, you are probably not that good looking at all. And now ‘science’ (i.e. Dr Julian De Silva, who works as a plastic surgeon and probably wants to make you feel shit about the way you look) has produced a list of the 10 most handsome men in the world. Spoiler alert: you are not on the list.
The research used digital mapping and the ‘Greek Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi’ to work out whose face was the most appealing – a technique apparently used for thousands of years.
Twelve ‘markers’ including lips, eyes, eyebrows, chin and forehead were digitally measured and then mapped against the ratio.
You will probably be unsurprised to hear that the most handsome man in the world – according to this ratio, anyway – with a 91.86% accuracy was… George Clooney. Shocker!
Other scientifically handsome men included Brat Pitt, Harry Styles, Idris Elba and Zayn Malik, as if we needed science to tell us that.
Ryan Gosling has the most scientifically handsome nose, apparently, with Harry Styles taking the top spot for eyes and chin and David Beckham beating everyone else for “the most perfectly shaped face”.
